LURGAN artist and author Aileen McGovern is helping to bring a splash of colour to Finn McCool's Big Day Out, at Oxford Island this Saturday, August 18.
The day aims to combine a whole range of fun activities to celebrate the legendary giant and Aileen is helping to look after the 'Giant Parade'.
She has been helping children from the ages of four to sixteen create floats for the parade and design
costumes from Finn's era.
Aileen has been an avid traveller, having lived in Holland for ten years, and has been inspired to set up her own publishing company to publish her first children's book 'Sky Rabbit'.
She said: "The book revolves around a rabbit who has a dream he wants to learn to fly.
"It is about believing in dreams and teaching kids to believe in themselves and to make their dreams come true," she said.
"The book is the first book in a series of four and follows the rabbit on his adventures after he learns to fly."
The book was published in December and is available in all good book stores and as Aileen described it is beginning to take off across the world.
She said: "I cannot believe how well it has done, it is really overwhelming the success it is having, it is in it's second print run after the first edition sold out.
"We are in negotiations with stores in America and Holland, it is really going great, there are not enough hours in the day for all the work," she said.
Aileen has been helping out with the preparations for the event this Saturday, she said the kids have been showing a great sign of potential. She added: "They are all shinning stars and very creative, I am looking forward to it and it will be a colourful event."
