WARINGSTOWN captain Simon Harrison feels fit enough to lead his side in this week's Senior Cup semi-final.
But that will all depend on medical advice he was due to receive yesterday (Wednesday).

“I have to go to see the surgeon on Wednesday,” said Simon on Tuesday. “I practiced on Monday night and felt no side effects so I am hoping to get the all cle
ar.” The skipper was hit on the head by a delivery and received a fractured bone in his eyebrow and skull.

If he is available it will mean the villagers should have a full squad to chose even though there are Ireland games scheduled for Friday and Sunday.

“From what we have heard our Ireland players should be available,” said Simon.

Earlier in the season they postponed a Senior Cup game against Woodvale because Kyle McCallan, Gary Kidd and James Hall were on Irish duty.

They face CIYMS away on Saturday - starting at 12 noon - for a place in the final.

“We don’t know a great deal about them,” said Simon. “We played them a couple of years ago in the final and the personnel should not have changed so much since then. They are going to be competitive and we will have to play well.”

The villagers will definitely be without their three Irish players for a re-arranged league fixture on Sunday away to Instonians. “It’s somethnig we just have to grin and bear,” added Simon.

The ball sponsor for Saturday’s cup semi-final is Barry Harrison.
