Cunningham praises Coastguard and RNLI following rescue operation
Shortly before 1.10 pm Belfast Coastguard received a report of two kayakers stranded at the base of cliffs on Carrick-a Rede island, following the capsize of their boats. Rope rescue teams from Ballycastle and Coleraine Coastguard were quick on the scene and were able to bring both persons back to the top of the cliff.
The Portrush All Weather RNLI lifeboat was also in attendance to provide safety cover, and was able to provide assistance to another two kayakers who were struggling in the heavy swell
