Council contractors tasked to north Belfast street after bi-lingual signs vandalised

In a statement issued to the Newtownabbey Times today (Monday), a Belfast City Council spokesperson said: “We have had one report of vandalism to dual language street signs last week at Downview Park West where four signs had graffiti spray painted onto the Irish wording.
"All four signs were cleaned by residents before the council’s contractor attended the site.

Hide Ad“One of the signs is damaged and will be replaced, while one other sign will have further cleaning work carried out by the council’s contractor.”
The spokesperson confirmed that it cost “approximately £600” to erect all four signs when they were new, adding that it would cost “approximately £150” to repair the damage caused.
