Chickens die in road accident
HUNDREDS of chickens didn't get to cross the road when they died in a traffic accident in April 1967.
Traffic was disrupted for nearly four hours when a trailer containing 3,000 live chickens overturned in Church Place. Apparently, a large number of birds died as a result of the crash.
The lorry, owned by Moypark, was travelling up Edward Street into Church Place when the trailer struck the kerb of a traffic island and went on its side.
