Assaulted security guard at supermarket
David Paul Robinson (43), of Stroma Drive, Ballymena, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday and admitted five offences which happened on December 4 last year.
He pleaded guilty to theft, assault, disorderly behaviour, assault on police and resisting police.

Hide AdA prosecutor said Robinson became disruptive when approached by a security guard and refused to calm down.
The defendant was shouting, kicking and punching and made “threatening comments”.
Defence barrister Ben Thompson said the theft was for a “trivial” amount but he said Robinson then reacted in a way which was far from desirable.
He said his client was on licence from prison and has been off drugs since his release but then started drinking and was intoxicated at the time.

Hide AdHe said Robinson had money with him at the time of the incident but the theft happened because he was so drunk.
District Judge Peter King imposed a three months jail term, suspended for 18 months, and said he was prepared to consider the incident as a “blip”.
