Liverpool boss ‘Kop’ of the class on visit to former school

ST. PATRICK’S College received a surprise visit by a ‘Kop guest’ on Friday as recently appointed manager of Liverpool Football Club, Brendan Rodgers dropped by for a cup of tea and a yarn.

Before the hustle and bustle of the new league season starts, Rodgers made an unscheduled stop to his former school whilst on a trip to his family home.

Rodgers has been a guest speaker at the school but this is first visit to his former school since taking the hot seat at the Merseyside Club, he met pupils and staff, signed autographs and posed for photographs.

The new Anfield boss had the chance to congratulate his former PE teacher, Paul McKee, on his honour by the Queen for his services to amateur sport, as revealed by the Times last week.

Mr. McKee was awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list “for services to amateur sport, basketball and the community”.

Mr. McKee had recently sent him a card congratulating him on his new job and explained that the visit from the Kop boss was ‘completely out of the blue’.
